about jnvfd

JNVFD is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, volunteer emergency service organization located about 12 miles south of Abilene in Tuscola, TX. The department began in 1980 with modest resources, but has grown to 12 firefighters, 2 engines and 3 brush trucks that we respond with. Our station is in Tuscola at 641 Kent Street right next door to South Taylor EMS Station #1.

We respond to all 911 calls for fire, rescue, and EMS in the 86 square miles around Tuscola and Ovalo. Also, we are often called for mutual aid response for our neighboring departments including Buffalo Gap, ECCA, or Lawn. We average 7 calls per month with an average of 30 man hours volunteered every month. Of those calls, about half are EMS in nature and the other half are fire related.

We are proud members of the State Fireman's and Fire Marshals' Association of Texas, Big Country Firefighter's Association and we are a registered First Responder Organization with the Texas Department of State Health Services.
